I want to talk to you about my program Diagnostic Imaging. It's a big program in the health domain and it's very interesting because you can do images of certain part of the body with a specialized technology. We do the images, and we send it to the Doctor, and he analyses it and do a sickness diagnostic with the images that we produced. The radiologist need to be protected by the radiation. The Diagnostic Imaging is complex so it's why I need to explain you about different terms important of this field of study...
anatomy
nouns
The branch of science concerned with the bodily structure of humans, animals, and other living organisms, especially as revealed by dissection and the separation of parts.
Example: It should be noted that there is a lot of variation in aphasia as no two individual's brain anatomy and physiology as well as language usage are identical.
fr: anatomie
artery
noun
Any of the muscular-walled tubes forming part of the circulation system by which blood (mainly that which has been oxygenated) is conveyed from the heart to all parts of the body.
Example: The bronchial artery, except for a small number of short branches in the hilum, contributes none of the pleural blood supply.
fr: artère
diagnosis
noun
The identification of the nature of an illness or another problem by examination of the symptoms.
Example: Anxiety is an important issue in cancer care and is often associated with a cancer diagnosis and the subsequent oncology treatment process.
fr: diagnostic
exposure
noun
The state of being exposed to contact with something.
Example: Early involvement is the only guaranteed way of properly considering a fundamental building design issues related to building site, form, and exposure.
fr: exposition
injection
noun
An instance of injecting or being injected.
Example: The operation of a multi-bed absorption trap, which was developed to quantitatively remove organic vapors from large-volume air samples, and inject them as a 1â??2s wide plugs onto the separation column, was modified to use fast heating rates and split flow operation to minimize injection plug widths.
fr: injection
iodine
noun
The chemical element of atomic number 53, a nonmetallic element forming black crystals and a violet vapor.
Example: In addition, depending on availability of dietary iodine, thyroglobulin may contain varying quantities of iodine.
fr: iode
kidney
noun
Each of pairs of organs in the abdominal cavity of mammals, birds, and reptiles, excreting urine.
Example: Others may be kidney shaped or triangular sometimes having holes drilled for decoration.
fr: rein
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
nouns and adjectives
Magnetic resonance imaging is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to form pictures of the anatomy and the physiological processes of the body. MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields, magnetic field gradients, and radio waves to generate images of the organs in the body.
Example: I will use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at hospital to diagnose my patient.
fr: imagerie par résonance magnétique (IRM)
medical imaging
adjective and noun
Medical imaging is the technique and process of creating visual representations of the interior of a body for clinical analysis and medical intervention, as well as visual representation of the function of some organs or tissues.
Example: Positron emission tomography (PET) is a medical imaging technique that has become a valuable diagnostic tool.
fr: imagerie médicale
medical prescription
noun
An instruction written by a medical practitioner that authorizes a patient to be provided a medicine or treatment.
Example: He scribbled a medical prescription for tranquilizers.
fr: ordonnance médicale
pathology
noun
The science of the causes and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine those deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.
Example: Predictors were restricted to a limited set of exploratory variables; including age, sex, delinquency, pathology, and social skills.
fr: pathologie
patient
noun
A person receiving or registered to receive medical treatment.
Example: The results provide valuable insights to landscape designers seeking to evoke particular emotions or designing therapeutic environments for particular patient groups.
fr: patient
radiation
noun
The emission of energy as electromagnetic waves or as moving subatomic particles, especially high-energy particles which cause ionization.
Example: The purpose of this research is to develop methods that reduce energy consumption in a residential building in a hot and humid climate region (Thailand) using efficient architectural building components and renewable energy (solar energy) to produce electricity, domestic hot water, and supplemental cooling by night sky radiation.
fr: radiation
radio wave
adjective and noun
Radio waves are a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum longer than infrared light.
Example: Digital modulation For several reasons, in order to transmit a digital signal over an analog wave guide, such as a radio wave, it must be modulated: A binary signal will contain a DC offset, which should be removed before transmission.
fr: onde radio
radiologist
noun
A person who uses X-rays or other high-energy radiation, especially a doctor specializing in radiology.
Example: The radiologist use at hospital the medical imaging to diagnose the pathology of the patient.
fr: radiologue
radioprotection
noun
Serving to protect or aiding in protecting against the injurious effect of radiation radioprotective drugs.
Example: We need some radioprotection to do the exam in Diagnostic Exam or in Nuclear Medicine.
fr: radioprotection
scan
verb
Cause (a surface, object, or part of the body) to be traversed by a detector or an electromagnetic beam.
Example: Over the period of one hour, time scan observations were conducted every 15- minutes to document patient activity and, where possible, view shed preference.
fr: analyser
vein
noun
Any of the tubes forming part of the blood circulation system of the body, carrying in most cases oxygen-depleted blood toward the heart.
Example: The novel Lust for Life by Irving Stone, published in 1934, is the most famous of these productions, popularizing a vein of interpretation established early in the century by some of Van Gogh's first advocates, such as the taste - maker Julius Meier - Graefe, who defended Van Gogh in 1906, and went on to write a book in his praise in 1921 called Vincent.
